Can you remember those day trips to the beach in the back of the Holden ute?

No, I grew up in Bournemouth by the sea so all it took was a bike ride or a trip on a trolleybus.

I visited Sydney in 1971 while in the US Navy. The first thing I did upon arrival was find a used car lot where I bought a very old Holden 4 dr sedan. I drove that thing all over New South Wales for six and one half days. The nigh before my ship was to leave for the states, the clutch went out. I left the car with the keys on the side of a street and called some friends I had met to tell them the car was theirs if they wanted it.

I loved Sydney and the Aussies who live there. Its about the only place I would ever consider moving to if I decided to leave the US.

Again, I lived out in whoop whoop. So no beach for me:( But we had a sandbar on our property, which was fantastic to travel to in the back of the ute

Oh I can remember hitchin the wagon down to the lake and makin daisy chains and laughin and then mom would spread out the trukey and ham and pickles and we'd just laze underneath the afternoon sun and dream of ponies and cowboys.
