Band Of Brothers. Tora,Tora, Tora. We were Soldiers. The Fighting SeaBee's
The Blue and The Grey
There are so many - depends on the decade. If you're into older movies, some black and white - look to the war movies made in the 40s - some of my favs from the 40s include: 49th Parallel (1941), Sergeant York (1941), They Were Expendable (1945) with John Wayne; Mrs. Miniver (1942) about the perserverance of a British middle-class family during the Blitz. .. soo many... start here and work your way to vietnam era ... (most not historical dramas tho, but they're great - Deer Hunter; Apocolypse Now...)

*Just some of the BEST of the BEST that are ba<x>sed on true stories OR are inspired by true stories. You may or may not like them all. Some of them are inspiring and patriotic, others a bit dark, introspective and pessimistic. ALL of the movies are, IMHO, GOOD or EXCELLENT.
