Can you tell the difference between a person that's got some form of mental illness and a person that is evil?

I have my own method of doing so and I am curious to know how others might accomplish that determination. I don't mean making that call about a person after knowing them for a long time. I want to know about how based on first impressions, or a very new relationship, whatever the type of relationship (basically you have limited info about the person), you would make that determination.

Let me ask you guys this......did you guys understand the question because Sertzie here has an issue with ......well the question and "theory" she is describing isnt the one asked by me apparently.....maybe sertzie needs to take their own advice and not attack or speak about people when the attack was based on a ridiculously out there assumption to say the very least. Im not even going to apologize for you being offended sertzie cuz anyone can reread the question and see that what you responded to was absolutely not the question I asked.

theres a fine line and hard to be sure about , it depends on lots of factors ....one being does the person themselves know they are evil. does evil truly exsist?

in the moment of committing something evil, u could be mentally ill or not but if u think it rationally and still go thru with it. u r evil period. and also if afterwords u dont regret it.

Again with your rudeness......why don't you ask for clarification as to what a person means sertzie before you "assume" they are slamming mentally ill people. Or better yet just stop answering the people that actually want to have this discussion calmly, without being rude, and RATIONALLY

Are you referring to understanding the difference to a person kicking a dog.. and a sociopath concept?

Kicking a dog, in my opinion, is not evil. Depending on the reason the dog was kicked that person is either defending themselves or is just downright mean but that alone doesn't make them evil. I mean this: some people are mentally unstable, some are mentally unhinged, but they are still not evil. It is my opinion that labeling someone sociopath is just sciences, the medical profession's, and anyone elses way of making evil somethiing other than evil so that way society can offer some form of explanation other than the devil or hell as the reason for the person's "misconduct". So really what I am saying is leave out all the labels, and things we clearly know ppl that are not evil and people that truly are both do and dig a little to find something that would help you decide which one they are.
