Cantor benefitted from seeing which direction the windsock was blowing after the election.

You never know. It could be about that, it could be about garnering votes on the back of immigrant rights, the way Republicans, ironically, accuse the Dems of doing. Or it could be the same reasoning Reagan used in approving the Simpson-Mazzoli Act in 1986, granting amnesty, with the understanding employers going forward would verify status of anyone they hired. We see how well that worked.

Pragmatically it makes sense. Otherwise you've got a whole generation of undocumented second-class citizens milling around unable to integrate with society.

Its just an extra seat on the ICE plane. If I Decided to go sponge off an asian country, they would package me up neatly and depoist me back on our shore or at an embassy.

Would said Asian country allow its businesses to hire and pay you under the table to boost their economy ? The U.S. has been very complicit in making it profitable for the undocumented to come here and find work.

I'm not certain that that they want it. Still, it was one thing for Mary and Joseph to hop the border to have their baby. It is quite another when ever other family from Jalisco on south is dropping cabbage north of the border.

It means, that If I can not qualify for a federal program, I can use another identity to benefit. If they are going to forgive such things we need to get a press and go into business milking OUR money, not theirs.

If they were born in the US, then they should be US citizens, or have the right to have dual citizenships.

That's a bit different, but they are a clean slate. Children are a precious and beautiful thing because they are innocent, undamaged, unprogrammed. They can be anything, even American.
