Yeah it's a masonic symbol meant to mean a supreme being, also known as a deist symbol. It's a way of honoring "all" religions without letting their influence be too overt, makes sense since the United States was founded on religious freedom. The masons accept any male who believes in a supreme being, obviously they have a lot of members. It generally alludes to the Abrahamic god, ie Jews, Christians, and Muslims.<br />
