I don't think we use that term in Australia it is usually referred as de facto marriage, I see nothing wrong with it<br />
(living together married or not sure can be hell on earth)
I am thinking that common law marriages are not recognized like they used to be by law. I will have to research that.<br />
Any marriage common or otherwise is not a lazy way to anything.

I don't believe in common law marriage...you're either say your vows and make it official, or don't bother....<br />

i don't believe in common law marriage. only because a tax person told me if you file married the only way you can reverse the status is if your able to show paper proof.<br />
to me common law marriage both parties has to agree to it and be living as husband and wife for xxx many years. if this works for them then i guess it's okay.
