instead of paying $1000 to government, if you can pay them $500 and give $500 to a charity of your choice - which is a simplified example of the option corporations have, when choosing how to pay their taxes. That's how I have understood it anyway.

It would be treated as income for the student, and the company could right it off on taxes!!!

I think better yet, companies should help pay for the education of those who go to work for them, all companies, and then they could get a tax break and everyone wins. That way nearly everybody could afford an education.
