Resolved Question

I've had these glasses for over a year. I can only get new ones every 2 yrs. I can still see well with them, but without them, my vision is weaker. I know I have high astigmatism, & they're monitoring my eyes more closely with possibility of glaucoma. I'm 26. 1 of my eyes are supposedly not aligned properly. People call me cockeyed.

People can be so insensitive! I found out that I have glaucoma in 1999 at 39 and it's progressed and I am blind in my left eye and going blind in the right. I also have astigmatism. Getting your eyes checked once a year is the recommended care but it doesn't make sense to get that done and find out that you need glasses and can't get them because of some ruling. I would file a grievance about that in your place. You might also want to consider filing for disability. If you are losing your sight you qualify for that. Have you had any kind of corrective surgery or is that not covered by your medical insurance. Just let me say that there are some people who say bad things about the military but right now with all that I have going on I wouldn't be here if I hadn't enlisted. I get free medical, my medicines cost $8 no matter what the consumer cost is, and if I say I need new glasses I get them without hassles or a waiting period. This has nothing to do with your situation but I wanted to address how some people have to do without and it's just wrong that it's that way.
