Could someone please give me a description of what childbirth is like?
Again, this has to do with my writing. I'm not planning to write a gory all out description of birth, but I'm a little unclear on the order of things...when does the water break, what's a normal length of labor, where is the most pain felt and what sort of pain is it (aching cramps or splitting feeling, that sorta thing) etc...would any mother be willing to share some details with me?

EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT STORY...

all i can tell you is what i went through. first i had the contractions and it was painfull, mostly in my back. Then my water broke and the contractions hurt more. the water braking feels like when you cough or sneeze and a little bit of pee comes out without coughing or sneezing. then it just starts dripping and you'll go through a couple pairs of underwear. when this happens, put on a maxi pad and call your doctor!

once you get there, try to poop before you get drugged up! the contractions will hurt but i know i prefer wiping my own butt! YES... it hurts when the put in your IV and when they put in your epidural, but it is TOTALLY worth it!

i was in labor for 22 hours once you are doped up let them give you the tocin or whatever its called to speed things up... it does make your contractions stronger but who cares? you can't feel 'em! your butt cheeks WILL hurt from laying around for a long time! have your birthing partner rub it out.

You know you're ready to push when it feels like you have to poop. if you really had to poop it would just come out and you won't feel it. the pressure you feel is your baby making his/her way through. This is when you start to FEEL things again.

When you push you can feel it, then you'll feel a "ring of fire" and thats when it feels like your vagina is on fire. After the baby is out you feel relieved and numb again. You won't feel it if you tear or if the doctor cuts you.

good luck to all the ladies!

You're in a warm, dark room, with all of your needs managed - like room service. Next thing you know you're squeezed through an opening barely big enough for a softball. You're naked and exposed in a cold, unwelcoming room flooded with light. Some b*stard in a mask cuts your food supply, holds you upside down by your feet, and spanks you for no reason. After that it just gets worse.

Hi, I dont know if this will help but i have had 5 children and all my births were different.I think every woman experiences their births differently. You cant really predict it.Sometimes your water can break on its own and other times you have to have it broken. On all of mine i had to have it broken because the walls are too thick. And the pain could be like a period pain some women dont get any and some get like a dull ache and some can have bad pain and some just get a bad backache. Its a feeling every woman has differently some can have none ( lucky those lol>>) but i think you will experience this event in your own experience , all i used to think every time one of mine were getting close to be born i just thought about the joy of a little being that has been born to you with happy thoughts and think positive thought and try to enjoy the moment of bring a human being into this world . Good luck and i wish you happiness in your journey.

It can be the most painful and embarrassing experience of a womans life, yet we go through it because at the end we are blessed with this tiny unique part of ourselves. After all the pain and embarrassment is forgotten most of us will go through it all again just to see another tiny unique face at the end of it. Childbirth may be hard but it's worth it.

Some people have a pretty much painfree labour, and very short. Sometimes the waters break on there own othertimes they need to be broken. The breathing technique really does work, you will get really woozy doing it, but it is really helpful. I found that out on my fifth child. One other piece of advice I have for you is to get some sachets called ural, they may have a different name where you come from, these turn the urine to alkali, and are helpful if you have any grazing after childbirth. Don't listen to all the horror stories, not everyone has a bad time. When you give birth to your baby you will wonder what the fuss and worry was all about.

I've had one CSECTION and one normal birth. The CSECTION was painful, where I had the incission to,and coughing afterwards was sore for about 2 days. I had severe constipation after but that soon went.
With my normal birth, I was petrified as I was expecting all kinds of things, but, truthfully I LOVED IT! I was laughing & joking all the way through it, I will not lie and say that it wasn't without pain as it was painful. When you hold that baby in your arms OMG is TOTALLY worth anything that happens to you. When her head came through, I felt like I was opening up like the bud of a flower. I did exactly as the staff told me to do which is very important to listen. They been through birthing process more times than we have, so they know what they are saying to us. If I had her first, I definitely would have had more afterwards at least 2 more.

When I had my first child I was in labor for 37 hours, without any pain relief for the first 27. It was painful, I'm not going to lie. It felt like getting stabbed in the stomach. The pain would get excuriatingly bad, then it would start to subside, until another contraction. When I finally got an epidural I was so relieved. I ended up getting a C-section. MY second child was a scheduled C-section, so I didn't have labor with her. My pelvis is narrow, so I couldn't deliver vaginally.

I had the worst pains in my back and belly. I was having contractions back to back during my monopoly game and then had the epidural. It helped but was still quite painful. I was lucky enough to not tear at all or be sore afterwards but like many women it is different for us all even if you have multiple births. This is tough to just give a general description for your writing...but I hope these answers have helped ya!

Pain, screaming, crying, snot running down her face, for 26 hrs. She puked all over herself. The epidural really hurt going in. When the baby came out, it was all bloody, the afterbirth was like raw flank steak covered in bloody snot. One of the most disgusting things I've ever seen aside from the dead cat that was stuck in my sewer pipe for three months. Her vagina was grotesquely swollen. I didn't look too close.

I had cramps. My cramps were coming 5 minutes apart, so I called the doctor. He told me to come to the hospital. When I got to the hospital they broke my water. That's when the pain started. Imagine menstral cramps X 100. I was in labor for 5 minutes. The pain was the worst with the head coming out. The rest was a breeze. They put my son in my arms and I felt no pain only love.

I would be happy to give you a description of childbirth. Imagine taking your bottom lip and pulling it over your head.

Someone once said it's like trying to push a wet saint bernard though the cat door which I think is spot on. And the pull the lower lip over your head and swallow is the best way to explain the pain. But the best thing you will ever do in your life. good luck with your writing!
