Could you give me a Quick Precis of American Football please?

I watched it a day or so ago!

The only time it touched a foot was when Sam Rocca

kicked it and went off again!....To me, It seemed like rugby!

Yeah, I have no idea why they call it football either. The foot has very little to do with it. I am not sure about this, but I think it may have to do with the shape of the ball. But, who knows?
