It's been real. It's been fun. It just hasn't been real damn fun.

Unfortunately the choice on how to take this is all him. Some people are so completely hurt by being dumped that they never want to deal with an ex. Others get over it. A lot of it depends on how long the relationship has been going on, how serious it was, and how committed he was to it.

All you can say is "It's not working, I'm so sorry. I don't want to lose you because I treasure you too much, but I need to end it now so we aren't hurt more by this in the future."

Or uh, something like that. No matter what happens, give him some time to recover. Being dumped -hurts-. but we all have to do it and many people do go on to have good friendships with former boyfriends. Don't be surprised if he doesn't want to talk to you for a while, but maybe things can be repaired and you can get a good friend back. Just be patient.

If it's a sexual relationship, tell him his **** is too big for you so the sex has to stop.

Simply tell them we are having problems and you don't want this relationship anymore.
