Cricket - How can the Aussie selectors be so dumb? Not playing recognised spinners in their test match with India.

The pommies taught how to beat India in India by playing them at their own game. They played good spinners which counteracted the Indian spin bowling department effectively. Could not the Aussies see this a tactic that they could have also used?

The way they are going the Ashes will be straightforward wins for England both Home & Away. Although as a team they remain in the top half of the increasing divide in Test ratings [Eng, SA, Aus, India at home - Pak, WI, SL, NZ, Zim, Bang] they have been since 2007-08 the worst Aussie Team I have seen & I go back as far as 1979-80. To think the 1981 side were criticised & they had Lillee, Marsh & Hughes! Quite frankly the current side has one batsman, a reasonable WK/batsman & no consistent bowling at all. How ever many bowlers have played for Aust since 2007-08? 20?

Not only the selectors are dumb, why the **** did Clarke declare on 237/9 the last wicket may have added many more runs. Even if not, with such a low total, surely ANY more runs would have been better.Back to your q quite right they need to blood the young up-and-coming bowlers, but when you're one down in series probably not the best time to do so. Going with those you know can do the job would have been much more sensible.

Agreed. The more runs you can add the better. Aussie do have a tail that could have got in another 20 runs. Lyon being the best spinner they had (wicket taking) and what do they do, leave him out!!!

It does not that is for sure. There does not seem to be a good balance either.

That's OK as far as I'm concerned, anyone who beats the Aussies is my best friend. England for the Ashes YAH.
