Curious question about Arthritis see details plz!
Why is it that so many who have arthritis say that the cold causes their arthritic pain to act up? I have been diagnosed with full blown osteoarthritis and find this confusing. I find that by applying ice to the painful joints more effective in relieving the pain for me than heat does and plz no rude or crude comments! I'm just wondering why!

Great question. When the weather changes I get arthitic pain in my right hip. Lying on a warm water bed helps but I've also used cold compresses for pain so I see where you are coming from. But I have a theory: (I always do...lol) I think it's the barometic pressure. Serious. I think the change in the barometric pressure that comes with certain wet days actually penetrates the bodies' organs and causes the swelling. But the cold compress does reduce the swelling because it's applied on the surface. Just a thought. What do you think?
