Cynophobia is a fear of dogs. She says she is not scared of him. Just does not like them.?

I use to say things like I don't like it. When I feared it or the person, Could this be the same? Like she just may not be able to say I fear them. But I must say this People who I have seen show a sign of FEAR the dogs pick up on it and never warm up to that kind of person. So maybe she is right she is jsut cold to them and does not like them. I am sorry I just find it hard to understand. I was not really into little dogs till I had a Yorkie around. Then It was pure trust and Love they gave to me as I gave to them. If your a feeling lovable kind of person. How can you not want to touch these clean awesome little boys. They use Yorkies for healing now with many people. I even saw some people with a DR. Note to carry a Yorkie around with them to heal Post tramatic stress. So To say I just dont like to touch them or have them touch me. Goes deeper sorry but I truly feel its a ISSUE

Sorry Cream Big difference between eating bugs and loving a clean less germs then most people. Little loveable Yorkie. Fears Ok I can buy it. Just stated I dont like them . Is in my eyes a unresolved issue...
PS I have not pushed it at all with her. Or even said I do not understand. I keep them off her and distant from her as much as I can

i really can't get into people who don't like dogs. i just can't understand why someone would not like them... i have two and it's the greatest thing in the world. maybe she is afraid. or maybe she just has a mental illness. doggies are the best!!

Creamsicle	Posted Jun 28th, 2009 at 7:52AM Some people just don't like dogs, period. Or animals.... they have no desire to like them. Think of something you don't like that other people love - perhaps eating bugs. Someone from another place who LOVES bugs may not understand at all why you would not want to try them and enjoy them as much as they do. If the dog thing is a major issue for you, then this is the wrong woman for you - plain and simple. (because what's important to you needs to be important to your partner) Rated: +2Vote for this!

Just telling her you don't understand her problem is probably just making her feel defensive and isn't solving anything. IMO, if you can find out what's bothering her specifically about the dogs, then you can help her find a solution. Rated: +1Vote for this!
TinkerDill	Posted Jun 28th, 2009 at 8:06AM Some children aren't raised with animals due to their parents fear of them or distaste for their perceived lack of cleanliness. So the kids don't learn how to bond with animals. It's a pity. I don't think a person can be really whole if they don't have some kind of empathy for animals, especially dogs. I couldn't ever get serious about someone who didn't love animals. My SIL doesn't like dogs. Never has. She can walk into a house with A GOLDEN RETRIEVER who's mingling with the guests and later say, "Oh, did they have a dog?" totally clueless. Meanwhile 5 people have come to the rescue of the golden who's confused and hurt that she's been ignored... True story. Of course, she also didn't really care for my nephew until he was old enough to talk and is repeating that pattern with her grandchildren. If they don't like dogs, say goodbye!
