I'm late to this party, but, The Faces were a good band, sure, but no 'greatest R& R band ever'. And I'VE GOT to tell you, 42 is NOT ' too young' to know how to spell John Lennon!! He and the lads started IT ALL !!!

LOL "He and the lads" started off by copying everything black Americans had done, then came to rely more and more on Sir George Martin to make their music sound good with his production and arrangements.

The other Brits liked the Black Americans and the blues players more. The Beatles were a little more 'country' inspired( yes, they loved Little Richard, etc- but not so much the blues or jazz icons.OK, G Harrison cited Elmore James...): they dug Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Eddie Cochran, etc.. You and I don't need to argue- we have similar tastes and history... I'm sure we could hold some good and interesting conversations on these topics! Agreed, on G Martin, later on...

Sorry not a fan of Rod Stewart. I never liked his voice. Slade were pretty good.
