I think it exists. There are some people that are off the walls in energy and have an attention span clearly lower than the norm.

I do think that ADHD is diagnosed more often than it should be, though, especially in children.

I've known a few boys with it and researched it at that time. What I was finding was that what is currently labeled ADHD was once accepted as normal behavior in boys. Another important thing I found was that the medication can minimize the symptoms for a while but cause them greater problems long term.

For me personally, I won't take aspirin, ibuprofen, or anything. If something is wrong I want to feel it and want to be aware of it so I know if it is getting worse or better. Treating the symptoms is not the same as curing the problem.

Yes, there are people who have attentional and impulse control difficulties and those difficulties do have a neurological basis. Particularly, I don't consider people with ADHD sick, just different. Medication can help in the short term, but behavioral modification is the best intervention on the long run.

I think that the pharmaceutical companies are behind a lot of diagnoses that should never be given. Very few people need the drugs that they're on, but the drug companies would have us believe that it's normal to take pills for depression or anxiety. They should be ashamed of the hoax that they've perpetrated on the public.

overdiagnosed. Sometimes people have big personalities and lots of energy... NEUTRALIZE THEM...
It's very easy to get diagnosed as ADD/ ADHD.
also easy to become Bipolar or Schzioeffective

I was diagnosed with all 4 of the above disorders before being seen by a psychiatrist who had practiced for 20 yrs and had a good reputation..
I'm pretty normal... not that special... I don't have any disorders besides slight OCD that doesn't warrant a diagnosis. Many mental professionals don't take diagnoses seriously.

I know people with the attention span of a gnat. So I'm thinking there might be something to it.
