A bit of both. I don't think religion is all bad. I just think it's incorrect.
Religion hasn't taught me a damn thing.
to hate religion.. well hate in general.. I started really looking at others motivations after being a 'born again'
It taught me not to be so gullible
It's the people, NOT the religion.
Why do I say that? Because in each religion, there are good people and bad people.
Just like those who are atheist. There are many who are atheist who are mean, criminal types who spread and teach hate... just as there are many atheists who are wonderful people and spread and teach love.
So since there are BOTH religious and non-religious people who spread and teach hate, it CAN'T be religion that does this.
It's people, pure and simple.
Growing up with some very poor excuses for "Christian" taught me what NOT to do...lol
No. Should it of?
I think if you are part of a religion that "teaches" hate, then you're either getting the wrong message from the wrong people - or you should dismiss yourself from it.
Ideally (my thoughts of course) is that it should be facilitating positive living and mutual compassion.
There are absolutely idiots in any bunch - but it helps me to stay away from the cynics and pessimists.
They thought they were teaching me about love, so why did I learn to hate?
It didn't teach much of anything.
LOVE. LOVE. LOVe. Always.
Bc Hate is live too
Hate. Religion is all about convincing people that what they do is wrong. About control and guilt.
