I took a job a few years ago that paid $175 a day. I stayed on for a bit less than six months because I got stuck with more and more hours and stress, and because my employer reneged on his promise to get me health insurance. I've not made that much money since then, but I've reduced the stress in my life down to a fraction of what it was, and I've still got opportunities to make decent money and enjoy life.

Health insurance in the U.S. is the most expensive in the world, and anybody who isn't rich or in a union (dwindling numbers there) is slowly getting bled to death.

That is less than some managers make at McDonalds...
I would recommend seeking work that makes you happy regardless of pay scale.

I'm waiting for the construction to pick back up and I'll go back to my 55K electrician job again, if the economy ever recovers which seems like a pipe dream somehow.

At my occupation, the job coordinators always overwork you and short staff jobs.

Probably. The only way to know for sure, however, is to try... and besides, if you try and fail, you'll be in pretty much the same position you're in now... so you've got nothing to lose!

I know the feeling- some of us know how to stretch it to act like double what it is.
