homeless people deserve better food then mcdonalds anyways. I'd love to see them shut down completely, the homeless will find other sources of food, they will be ok.
The dollar menu isn't profitable. I've seen it abolished in truck stops as well, no homeless people there.
It may have something to do with not having them in the store, but the Dollar menu items don't make money. No reason to stay open if you don't make money. No big surprise. None of us works for free, either.
They sell beer in mcDonalds now? not every homeless a drunk?
That's true but I was. Jog on
In public too, I'm sorry. been dry since august 27th and im still rollercoastering emotionally.
But there was no call for it.
I'm told there's decent guy in here somewhere, and I just hope they're right.
That's the genius marketing man for ya.... MickeyD's needs to have a certain cliental now? ugh... I hate that place.. now so even more.
if this is true it doesn't surprise me. capitalists aren't interested in people, only profits. how awful if it is though... homeless people are still human beings and those of you who think you're better than them, just remember it could happen to you. your financial fate is determined by people who don't give a fig about you and your family.
I am shocked by some of the callous responses to this question. A lot of people are struggling right now. I guess you better hope you don't lose your job. There are homeless families out there, too, you know. Are the kids too smelly for you, too?
At the end of the day, you can still find cheaper grocery store food because when McDonalds makes food they have to charge extra to make up for the service.
In any event, I doubt they are doing this to flat out discriminate, but they do not gain much (or may possibly lose money) from the dollar menu, so from a marketing stand point it is completely reasonable. They rely on people who buy something that produces higher profits such as soda with the purchase of a dollar menu product, but since homeless people likely only buy the food, it isn't good for the company. Either way, they will have to pay a few more cents, which I'm not saying won't add up, but at the same time it won't be the end of the world (because again... they can buy food at the grocery store).
Sorry... I know that was poorly written.
A dollar menu? lol never heard of it. Why would they waste time and money for such a small profit? Homeless people are homeless by choice.
To take away their dollar menu just to maintain a certain type of clientele and image is cruel and discriminatory, but I can also see it from the other side. If the menu attracts homeless or poverty-stricken clients, they will eventually drive away the bigger-paying clients, and this will spell trouble for the entire business AND the entire client ba<x>se, including the homeless.
However, since McDonald's is a global enterprise, I would rather see it donate a sizable amount of their revenues to a charity organization covering the homeless and children. Or they could sponsor a long-standing meal drive for the homeless, which regular customers can pitch in with through goods, labor, or cash.
Personally I think McDonald's shouldn't take the dollar menu away, especially for the reason stated above.
That is sad. But then I am not a big McDonalds fan so what can I say. I know a lot of people that eat off the dollar menu daily. I think they will lose business around here if they do it.
Good move, I would not take my family where smelly homeless people eat.
Heavens knows what you might catch.
With today's economy, that will affect a lot of us, and not just the homeless.
No, I didn'.
But if it's on the news already ... I imagine the damage control folk are already abortin the plan.
Too big to fail? Hardly.
