We refuse to see it. I think that's an appropriate enough answer.

I love the part where Bruce Willis beats the bejesus out of Captain Kirk after mistaking him for the villain.

I saw it, expecting the worst. I only saw it because I knew my kids would clamor to see it, and I wanted to see how badly Hollywood would trash it up to their level.

I thought, overall, it was a fairly entertaining "prequel," or season premier-like episode. Some of the scenes of them walking from place to place could have been cut.

But I especially hated to see Capt. Kirk in his underwear laying atop a green alien *****. The "real" Kirk would not have been so ignoble. Plus, Uhuru kissing Spock was particularly disturbing. Some children in the aisle ahead of me were groaning "Eeewww!!! GROSSS!!! etc." through this disgusting, unnecessary, and inauthentic scene.

But Hollywood had to portray the Star Trek crew as thoroughly in line with the sexual revolution of the 1960's that they were not a part of.

I just got home from seeing the movie and I really liked it. I wouldn't say I'm a die hard fan but I've enjoyed the series' over the years. And I thought the movie did it justice.

My primary concern with this movie is the obvious difficulty of making something that should be older or set at the same time as the 1960s original TV show is that it will look much more modern by comparison than the ships and technologies that chronologically follow it in the 24th century from TNG, DS9, and Voyager..

This 2009 film is an alternate telling of Gene R's original universe, a reset, a reboot, whatever you want to call it. Is it perfect? No. Does it hit more targets than it misses? I would say yes.

I originally wanted to dislike this film. I kept an open a mind about it as possible, and ended up liking it tremendously.

It was very well done, despite the various nit-pickings from some fans and viewers in different areas.

BTW, I'd be willing to bet that most Trek fans will NOT be able to resist seeing this at some point, no matter their opinion. I will guarantee you that when that happens, they will want to see the WHOLE film before rendering a judgment or opinion on it.
