Disabled on Medicaid, can I collect my work pension without penalty?

I'm a disabled quadriplegic on Medicaid. I just found out I may be eligible to collect my work pension. Can Medicaid touch any of this even if I put this in a special-needs trust fund or whatever?welcome=t1

mmmhh medicaid is a messy thing, i worked for social services processing that... each states laws differ a little.. what you need to do is read the eligibilty guidelines for your state.. it's online just google it. certain trust funds are not counted as resources... but if it's a monthly income... it is likely it could effect your current grant. good luck!

You should be on social security disability also. I suggest that you apply immediately. Getting compensation for injuries on the the job has nothing to do with your qualifications for disability. APPLY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY~!~

this is a question you need to ask an experienced lawyer who is licensed in your state.

Collection of a pension, if the amount is large enough, could put at risk your eligibility for Medicaid. Even if it is in a trust. I urge you to talk to your local Medicaid Office about your specific situation for idea.

One question that I wondered about was how you worked enough to get a pension that will pay in the event of a disability (very rare in my experience) but not enough to qualify for Social Security Disability and full on Medicare, as you know, a much better health plan than Medicaid.

Regardless, good luck, I hope the pension comes through, and I hope you work it out with Medicaid!

Try checking for answers at the Social Security website. It's a good link to keep handy. http://www.socialsecurity.gov/
