Do 21st century Christians actually believe in the supernatural?

Lot's of people go to Church, but do they actually believe in demons and angels and curses and witches? Isn't the Bible and it's rather primitive supernatural concepts totally incompatible with 21st century living?

now that we understand the world better and can explain many of the things that were a mystery to us back during the time that the bible was written you think we'd see how stupid it is and laugh that people actually believe in these fairytales. but for some reason people just go on believing all this stuff happened back then even though when speaking about modern times they would never believe something like that could be true. they don't realize that people hadn't even began to explore science back then it didn't even exist. the people who lived back then had to explain the world with a very limited knowledge so they invented thing like magic and witchcraft and god.

We should...the Manual for Christians "the Bible" teaches it.

I believe in the seen and the unseen world of course.
I don't know if I get the witches and the curses stuff,
My father always said that voodoo is powerless if you dont believe in it...but then he was a Mason...not a Christian. He believed in the Supreme Being.
The Bible is certainly not incompatible wth the 21st century as people are still the same foolish humans they were centuries ago. The Bible is a way to live your life to find heaven one day. It is a way of life to learn humility. For without humility you cannot find peace nor heaven.

I do believe in the existence of angels and demons.
I do not believe in witches and curses.

Do you think the Bible is going to change just because we're in the 21st century? Do you think God is going to change His word to be more "compatible" with today's way of thinking?

He's not going to change. We're the ones who need to change!

This is what "I" have decided to believe. I don't feel the need to explain or justify it and it is your right to make fun of me for it. But, I'd ask you to search your heart again for the simple truth. Just because it's simple doesn't mean it's dumb. Don't confuse the two.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 (King James Version)

18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

By definition they must. If they don't, they are Christians in name only.

I love it when they tell us to search our hearts. They make our hearts sound like some kind of grand road trip that we accidentally passed the only rest stop on. This whole time i thought you were one of the lesser demons NGIH. That completely explained your incredible writing skills.

To be honest, I dont think Christians nowadays believe about Supernatural much ! (from most of my friends)
But For me, I do ... but not about angels and demons but Spirit and Soul plus Power !

Even ghost as well, As I own six senses and I could feel them.. That's all! But that's just me :)

Why not? The core of the question is, what defines a Christian? As individuals, Christians define themselves differently. I consider myself a Christian, but I don't believe the Bible is to be taken literally. I don't believe "God" wrote the Bible; I believe it was written by a bunch of mortal, therefore fallable, men as a guide.

I don't have an issue reconciling my belief in God with science or with the supernatural. Most of the time, though, there are normal, dull explanations for much of what people think is something paranormal or extraordinary.

I think it's impossible to be a Christian and not believe in the supernatural. If you don't believe in the supernatural, how can you be a Christian????? Christians believe that Jesus is God incarnate. God Himself is a supernatural being.
