Yeah but they are different to ours. Animals bred for Adult playfulness tend to be very emotional (cats, dogs). A fully grown cow however doesn't care much - unless you get near it's calf.

I believe animals in many ways, are more human than we are. Dogs are a prime example, they give us unconditional love regardless of how badly we mistreat them.

I am an animal lover, myself, but I am also a realist. We humans have a tendency to see our own emotions in animals, but that is pure imagination. Animals do have feelings but they are instinctual emotions. Excitment, fear, and grief in some species. You see this in dogs, cats and the higher animals, but when you get down to birds and reptiles there is less and les real emotion and it is pure survival instincts, for example, not real fear as we think of it.

It depends on what animals you're talking about. I seriously doubt that insects or fish have what we would consider emotions, although they have needs. As far a my parrot and my dog are concerned, I believe that they have emotions, but that those of my dogs aren't as complex as those of my African Grey parrot (considered to be the smartest bird in the world) because my parrot is more intelligent than my dog. The only 'evidence' on which I can base my beliefs is simply observation of their behaviour.
