It sucks to the point of suicidal ideation once lucid, if there is memory of the behavior, and/or thought process that was happening at the time of psychotic break (or being off meds for those who never achieve "normal" thinking and feeling.

Schizophrenia is a bit different for each person. There are cases that are worse than others. There are other psychiatric disorders that usually accompany schizophrenia, as well, changing up the game. Many schizos (myself included) often go into a phase where we believe we don't need medication and send ourselves into a worse psychotic break. Sometimes we believe the medication is a horrible poison. That everyone is part of some secret society that wants to kill us or obtain something from us, or just plain hurt us.

It's not so easy to explain. It's terrifying on a daily basis. Right now I'm medicated and lucid. I may not be later. Sometimes my rational side can be appealed to when going into a psychotic break and I can be made to understand that my view is askew. Most times this doesn't happen.

It's not always like you see on tv. Sometimes it is. I can answer specific questions if you care to send a message and ask. Maybe. The memory fails.
