Do I change?

I am watching Sleepless in Seattle. What a great movie. Does romance really exist anymore or is it truly only in the movies? I was laying in bed last night remembering the days in school when butterflies existed. The anticipation of the firsts. I would walk down the hall to class and catch the eye of the cute guy in school. He would ask me my number and I would then have to endure the anticipation of his call. Then when he called, we would talk for hours. Then the next day he would hold my hand to class and we would continue to talk. When school would end for the day, the first kiss would happen. We would then part and the anticipation of the second call would take over for the afternoon. Then it happened. The call came and the conversation lasted hours. I remember haning up the phone excited for the next day. Finally after a few days, the first date happens. He would arrive in his mom's car with a flower and the night was already perfect. He would open doors and hold my hand. He would dress nice, and so would I (after taking hours to figure out what to wear and how to do my hair). So now 15 years later.... where did it all go? Have we replaced personal with technology? Where did the butterflies go? Do I stand my ground and stay the old school that I love or do I have to roll with the tech change?

Can you remember waiting days or weeks for a letter from a pen pal? And when you received the stamped letter, it was the best feeling ever. To write a letter, put it in an envelope, stamp it, and put it in the mail box, meant that someone thought enough of you to do all of that. Now, if I don't get an email back with in minutes, I think, that is it. They aren't interested. So once again I ask.... Do I stand my ground on being the romantic me or do I need to change to fit in today's not so romantic tech world?

that has always been my favorite romantic movie. Here is my only advice: don't give up this dream- it can be yours but building a life and romance as that takes what you can't see: skill, along with character and you have to figure that out for yourself. But never ever ever lose your ideals. What you feel inside is real, what attracted you to that movie is real. It's an important part of you. Many people let it fade but if you persist through the hard times of life - which means you have been tested and succeeded- you can have your ideals. But only you can make them happen. Look around you and you will see people who do live these ideals. You can too.

I absolutely miss the days of a hand written letter. I do my best to keep them alive. Every couple of months I write my 2 dearest friends a little letter and slip it in a funny card and mail it out. They may not always send a hand written note back, but when I get an e-mail from them, I know I made their day. Hold fast and continue living the way that will bring you the most joy.

I think today's world is totally technology dependant and an absolute disgrace to our past. I think you should stand your ground, because there are others like you out there, believe it or not (you're reading one's answer :)) and as long as there's someone out there who still remembers what it was like, I'd say it will live on with them :)
