Forgiveness is not something you do for the other person, but that you do for yourself. It isn't easy to forgive (that's human nature) when you feel that you've been wronged. It's much easier to want to hold a person's wrongs against them. But often, you are powerless to punish them anyhow, and even if you are able to punish them, hatred and vengeance and pride will eat you alive. The only way to avoid those things consuming you is to forgive. Not to forget (lest you allow yourself to be wronged again), but simply not to hold a person's sins against them.
