Do many teenagers still go places as a family?
Like... to the museum, or to the movies with their parents?
My brother (16) and myself (19) still get dragged into going with mum and dad to places we don't want to go.

What will it take to convince them that they'd have a better time as a couple?

I seldom do with my family because we're all hating each other and life's hard *sigh* I'm happy for you even if you don't like to be dragged around LOL. My family doesn't even eat together even on special occasions or spend much time in the same room with each other without getting into a fight.

You might not realize it now, but when you are older and your parents are older you will really be glad that you had this time to hang out with them and make memories together. It's hard when you are young to realize that one day you will be too busy to have quality time with your folks and that you will actually miss it. Also, as they get older (far in the future hopefully) they will not want to go out as much. You should really appreciate this time while you have it. Even if it's boring stuff that you don't want to do, it's who you are doing it with that counts. :)

Yeah I have a 20 year old son and 17 year old son , a 14 year old daughter and 9 year old daughter and they enjoy family outings, which we try to do at least once a week. Apart from 2 family members which they dont like they go everywhere with us.

Our 16yr-old son still goes lots of places with us.

We never drag him along where he doesn't want to go, though.

That would be counter-productive.

Get "dragged"? You should appreciate having a loving family that wants to be around each other.

Ah, come on! You don't like to go to the museum or the movies? I can't afford to go to the movies, but if my parents (never gonna happen together) took me to the movies I would be thrilled! We don't have a museum here. If we had one, don't know if my parents would have taken me. We used to go the fair together, that might be about it. But it would have been fun if I would have gotten over myself and stopped being a bitchy adolescent/teenager. Boy did I drive my parents crazy! Don't worry, I'm nice now!

My daughter is almost 17 and she still goes out places with me, talks to me about all kinds of things and sometimes even sneaks into my bed at night (I am a single mother). We have a great relationship, thank goodness.

Go out with your family... I realize that sometimes it feels like a pain but you know, they aren't going to be around forever and trust me, you will look back on these experiences and be SO glad that you did. Besides, when you have children of your own, you get to drag them all over the place with you and tell them that if you had to do it when you were a kid, then they have to do it too!
