Paint Shop Pro does a lovely job of making pale, uneven skin flat and warm. It can also change hair, brighten eyes, whiten teeth and remove any skin imperfections. This is available to the man on the street with enough patience to learn how to use the program; it isn't hard to use and there are simple instructions to do the above mentioned. Other than this, one can fade the picture to give it soft edges, deepen the colour, lessen the depth of colour … and so on.
Even the highest paid models have their pictures touched-up; one thing is for sure, they aren't simply photographed and then printed straight into a magazine. I think it fair to say that there are many lovely looking ladies walking the street, wearing no make-up or spray-tan who look better than those considered models.
I think it would be a tad off the wall for any guy to think the photograph he sees in the magazine is how the person looks in real-life. It doesn't matter how much or how little the photographs are touched-up, touched-up they are and that's a universal fact of the glamour industry
Some men are gullible. I work with photoshop, so I know how it's all done and see it in every magazine.
But the same thing can be said about women too! Tall & good bulky hair seems to do the trick.

Detaching limbs and replacing with new ones. Or trying to change its position. People seem to do a poor job of making it realistic when they have to move body parts.
If it's just to smooth out the skin or add more color, it may be simple.
