Do men tend to have many close long-term friendships?

or are they more focused on their career, family or love interest that these type of friendships aren't that important?

I focus on my family and career and do not have close long term friendships with men. My wife killed my firendships with women ( and I mean the non sexual ones). I know of men who have childhood friendships that last for the rest of their lives (in a variety of cultures). I do not think it is one way or the other, it really depends on the person and the timing of critical events in their lives (Marriage, Career commitments, Children). My guess is that a guy who marries late is more likely to have strong friendships that he maintains and works into his married and professional life.
