If people think they lack something in an area of their personality they will often admire another person who is strong in that area. Forming a partnership with that person is seen as a way to cover that area a person feels lacking in.

I would say so. All my girlfriends have been nothing like me. I think in a relationship we cover each others weeknesses. It makes for a strong team.
