Me and my parents used to read bedtime stories but the most fun was when we'd make them up ourselves :D And when Dad got a computer he typed out one of the stories we had made up and I got to choose clip art to go in it and it just was like writing a book.
No one tells me bedtime stories now but I read to my little step-siblings when I get to go see them. They like it when I put on different accents for the different characters. One's always Irish.

My son is 8 and I used to read him edgar alan poe before bed...It sounds kinda scary I guess but it's cool cause now he has this amazingly dark sense of humour. Plus I think the act of reading anything to your kids at young ages makes them smarter.

I did, to both my children who are now 27 and 24. It was a ritual, every night they picked out a book. They did very well in school and have always been very good readers even to this day. Also, neither one of them ever have much problem sleeping.
On the other side of the coin, I got a good night and the door shut, I still have problems getting to sleep sometimes.

Kids need more things than bedtime stories. Parents should learn parenting to assist their children to develop their particular abilities and overcome hardship through their life. Each child is a special, unique, excellent human being.

I did from the week he was born until about 11 yrs....we used to read picture book stories when he was younger then progressed to serial reading a popular novel.

We have read the Narnia series and the harry Potter series, then the David Eddings series and Tolkein.

when he was old enough we would read a chapter each....it was his way of getting TWO chapters a night !

I used to all the time....but, I made up my own, or told them Bible stories....They are grown, now, some of them, with kids of their own.....so, I tell them to my grandbabies, when I am blessed with them, spending the night.....Yay! That's tonight!

i always read to my son.....one of my most favorite things to do!! He would laugh when i'd do the voices of a big, burly character in a tiny girls voice and vice versa!

when i was young, my mom read to me until i was 12. only she read science fiction to me lol! I highly recommend all parents do this : _P
