yes - absolutely. I will forgive, and indeed have forgiven, absolutely anything provided that I feel that the person who made the mistake has tried to learn something from it.

For example I once had someone burgle and trash my home. But I was quite willing to forgive the culprit if he showed some signs of remorse and of learning his lesson.

The ONLY unforgivable mistakes in life are ones from which you do not learn.

Yes. :) Personally,I don't think there's anything I wouldn't forgive...I'm not willing to let resentment control me,and I wouldn't let someone else feel bad for a mistake they made if they recognized it was one and made an effort to make sure it didn't happen again. :)

Well, there are people capable of forgiveness and people who are not. For some it has to be learned. I'm not one to let go easily, but through empathy for others I forgive people. I know how easy it is to make mistakes and mess up, so I am pretty forgiving.
I don't always get over the feeling of being hurt. But that is not the same thing as forgiveness.

Depends on what the mistake was.

Not all the time. I cant forgive my sister on what she did to our grandmother. I wont forgive my father on how he treated me. But I can forgive others who have treated me in the past.

Hi annasangels
why not? It is a relief to be able to do so. Maybe wise not to entirely forget but forgive is sensible. Horrible to go around holding grudges after all.

It just depends on the mistake, if a friend steps on your toe you will forgive her, but if someone betrays your trust or lie to you, I don't think you can easily forgive them.

Yes, so far anyway. I don't recall holding a grudge against anyone.

I try to forgive others but have to admit that it can be hard sometimes. Forgiveness is important in relationships because no one is perfect and holding a grudge will only hurt you in the long run.

One way or another you must forgive others that have wronged you and you must also forgive yourself for things that you know have wrong and be able to ask for the forgiveness from one you may have wronged.

I think it depends on the mistake as to how likely it is to be forgiven. For example, betrayal would be a tough one. Forgetting to take out the garbage, not so much. Then it depends on if the person is sincere in asking for forgiveness. In the end though, I usually find refusing to forgive is harder on me than the person who wronged me. And the hardest person to forgive, and always has been, is myself.

It is healthier for you if you forgive and forget. To carry a grudge causes stress. I have seen a lack of forgiveness destroy families because they will not put the past in the past and move forward and forgive whatever the wrong was.

In order to make yourself whole, you must learn to forgive others and not hold hatred in your heart for them. As said above, if you can't do it yourself, as God to forgive them and believe with all your heart that He will heal your broken heart and make you whole. If you have the faith to believe that He will, He will heal your heart and make you whole again.

Definitely yes. Life is too short to hold grudges and live in the past. I have forgiven everyone who has harmed me and I ask for their forgiveness if I've harmed them. Some people, you severe ties with because you realize it is a toxic relationship, but that's akin to avoiding onions if you know you are allergic to them.

People who can't forgive are to be avoided - it means they can't really love, either. In my opinion.
