No I think spelling mistakes are funny & sometimes cute. You can see the way a person is thinking when they spell stuff wrong.

Poor spelling is OK. It's the poor thinking that gets me.

Spelling mistakes, are exactly that mistakes. What I don't like is mobile phone text speak, it takes me longer to read and understand, it's irritating.

Honestly you can tell those accidental typos as oppose to someone just doing it for the heck of it, that gets me sometimes ,but most times once I understand the question i'm alright .

I can deal with other people's spelling/grammar mistakes but not my own.

my own spelling mistakes is what bothers me, I drive myself crazy with them.

If spelling is part of good communication and respect for what you are saying, then it starts with you.

we should all slow down and typos would happen less, I am hugely guilty of this myself.

but it only takes a second more to right click on the red underlined words and select a proper spelling.

Unless the misspelling is part of a verbal/textual nuance.

but then that's me.

Yes it does, but over the years and teaching non-native English speakers, I have loosened up a little.
When I worked in an office many years ago, an executive who was studying for his doctorate wrote e-mails that were unintelligible. It looked as if he had just jammed his fists on the keyboard and sent them. That really bothered me because it took me have an hour to decipher an unimportant message. In my opinion, he had no excuse. My students today do have excuses.

if they didn't understand the question then they wouldn't have answered it. If they understood the question, why would the spelliing matter to them.

Sometimes, i think people are just too free, they need to pick on something/someone to release their own frustrations.

It doesn't bother me but I basically can understand what the other person is trying to say so I don't worry about it. I make mistakes all the time. Ids there a spell check on EP?

First, you did a perfect job of spelling every word in this question. Secondly, I have to admit to being very bothered by spelling errors. It is a PROBLEM I have. It's like that question recently "do you still say yes ma'am and no sir" ... I grew up in a parochial school in which spelling and grammar were treated like catechism; you learned it or you were doomed for hell. I try to be discrete in dealing with this problem of MINE; I include misspelled words from the question in my answer, but I spell the words correctly. If it ever offends someone, I am so sorry, that is not my intention. My intention is just to be true to who I am and that's why I'm admitting I get my tighty-whiteys in a twist when I see misspelled words.

Nope, I think pointing out spelling errors on here is like pointing out grammatical errors in real life - tacky, tacky, tacky.
