Unfortunately, they do. I've received several unsolicited calls and reported them to FTC but I'm afraid that doesn't help.

    They continue to call.

So I figured out a more effective way to lose them. I got these prank tips from http://www.callercenter.com/articles/14waystoannoytelemarketers.html and they sure work! And these callers always have these funny reaction that I find their calls not stressful anymore. You guys might want to try pulling up pranks, too.

No, but I live in Asia where it's uncommon and I don't have a common language with them. As soon as telewhores hear me speak English, they give up. If you know a second language, use it.

If telewhores are bothering you, here are some things to try:

    (1) Keep a shrill whistle by the phone, and use it into the mouthpiece. It's very painful to the other person's ear.

    (2) Psychological warfare, part 1: tell the telewhore to kill himself. Try to infer and suggest that the *****'s life isn't worth living, that suicide is his/her only solution.

    (3) Psychological warfare, part 2: turn it into a phone sex call. It works well, especially with female telewhores. Say things like "What are you wearing?" and "Are you touching yourself?" The telewhore will hang up very quickly. Back when I lived in Canada, I did that sometimes and their supervisors called back, angry that I did that. I told them the only obscenity was calling me without permission.

    (4) Psychological warfare, part 3: guilt. If the telewhore is selling something which certain people cannot use, pretend to be among that group. If the telewhore is selling meat, claim to be a vegetarian. Exercise equipment? Claim to be a paraplegic. Magazines? Claim to be blind. When the telewhore realizes that you cannot buy the product, it will cross your name off the list.

    (5) Psychological warfare, part 4: interruption. Repeatedly interrupt the telewhore, speak randomly about other topics (e.g. sports, politics), shout like autistics allegedly do. Make the call into an unbearable ordeal for the telewhore.

    (6) Reversal of fortune. Get the company's number and start calling THEM to sell something, like your old car. Call them repeatedly. If they try to say stuff about "Do not call!", "Unsolicited!" and "Harassment!", ask them why they're doing it to you.

    (7) Lie. If you get the company's name, search the internet and call their head office, 1-800 or collect. Tell them that you told the telewhore never to call again, after which the telewhore became abusive. "He told me to go **** myself - HIS words, not mine! Don't ever call me again!" Telewhore companies can be held liable for the actions of their employees, so they'll be more likely to listen and stop calling.

    (8) Document and record the calls. You CAN sue the telewhore companies AND those who hire them. Many people have succeeded in small claims court and won money.

    (9) Use call display. I never answer blocked numbers, period. I pick up and drop the receiver immediately. My friends know that I don't accept blocked numbers, and none of them ever said I had hung up on them like that.

To any who say "You shouldn't abuse telewhores!" I say go **** yourself. No one has the right to invade my home or your home without permission. I have a "NO SOLICITING" sign on my door, and would do the same to my phone line if it we

Yes, I get calls from Account Card Holder Services. They call all the time. I have asked them to stop calling me but they just hang up. I tried all kinds of things. The problem is that they spoof their number and telephony technology is so backwater that there's no way to stop this.

Telephone companies are selfish and stupid. I need a way to block these kinds of things but they don't do anything.

Just use an answering machine and then you can screen your calls.Any messages can be deleted on the spot or the next day. Frustrates the hell out of them.

Yes, and reporting them takes time and energy from my foreshortened life. As if I would ever reward that illegal practice with a purchase or trust them in any way with my credit card information... But apparently, lots of other people do, so it must work for those telemarketers.

No. Only the politicians who made sure they were exempted from the National Do-Not-Call Registry. It's nice how they make sure they don't have to adhere to the laws they've passed for everyone else.
