The society is maintained by the presence of the mass. Without the community, there is no society.<br />

Without an infrastructure to command and exploit, a superstructure does not exist in comparison, to meet it's own ends.<br />
<br />
The entire answer to the concept, depends on whether you're in the mass of the infrastructure, or ruling at the superstructure. We serve society for the former, but it serves us (using "us" in an loose sense) for the latter.<br />
