I think the fact that the terrorists, who have planned attacks, have been apprehended before they could act, can be attributed to the "potection" provided by our security forces, who seem to think there is still a threat. We would have had many successful attacks had it not been for an alert citizenship and monitoring by the CIA,FBI and the Secret Service. I think we will continue to "need" their protection for a long time.

The best protection is liberty, which will serve as a conduit, in wich, any idea/means-of-protection could be employed by an individual as long as it doesn't compromise the liberty of others (i.e. a Luger pistol).

I agree 100% with possibly the exception of the Lugar. I personally prefer my .45, model 1911 Colt.

I assume you're American? I also assume that there is still a whole bunch of people out there in the world who hate Americans with an absolute passion. Not all will be terrorists but some will be so you'll still need some protections from them.

We need protection from the proudly ignorant who often use terror when they don't get their way.

Of course not--all the terrorists have given up their ideals and goals and become non-violent Quakers.
