Do you agree with my interpretation of the picture showing the mother bird feeding the baby bird in the nest?
Years back I had seen a photograph of nest which showed a bird feeding its baby bird by puting food into the mouth of the baby through its beak. This photograph was on the cover of a book called GIVING. Eversince I have been trying my best interpretations to arrive at the numerous ways in which the mother bird was giving to its child by feeding it with its beak. Of one of the final interpretations that I have reached is that 'Even the act of allowing someone to do something for us because it makes that person happy is an act of giving because it gives a happiness to the person through a sense of contribution. How do you perceive this ?

Yes, I agree.

When we receive a gift (or action) from another, we are showing that person they are important to us. Also, we are showing ourself that we are worthy of their gift.

A Thank You note completes the circle.

Sure. you can give in various ways. I have let people I knew were lying about stealing from me believe that I believed them. While denying them the opportunity to do it again. Of course I'm not sure they believed me. But then, I didn't mean for them to. Isn't that giving? I didn't get violent!

well, my thoughts on the world are that there is no selfless act. if we give it is becaus we gain through it, whether it be the goodwill of someone else or just a good feeling in us, or even if it is just to avoid the guilt that u kno would follow if u dont give! the bird feeding her offspring however, is most likely a mothers instinct to ensure her babies survival.

Oh! At first I thought Gift was robbing this question from pushky but I looked at his profile and realized this is pushky. I don't know if it'll be the same reading about the almighty from someone named Gift, and I think I'll miss the avatar of the guy with the retarded mustache making his "I don't know" gesture.

Mr Pushky/gift, yes, giving of oneself is something that makes one feel good. I remember a post of yours in which you seemed to feel that if someone gave (not anonymously) then the gift was cheapened. The mother bird is acting on instinct, a mother human would give out of love for her child. That love sustains the mother human. I give, but expect recognition for that giving. Call me greedy.
