Not at all. While there seem to be some traits associated with different signs, most of the predictions are so general that one can apply most any prediction from any sign to one's own life.

If both believe it. If neither believe, that works. But if one believes, I think astrology can be destructive in a relationship. The sun signs are off by about a month anyway, so check your desktop planetarium for actual horoscope data (current pop culture uses sun signs as they were like 2300 years ago..
