Your narrow beliefs that the Easter Bunny was an invention to sell Easter products and that werewolves were concocted to scare children are even more ridiculous than the sum total of everything on your list. In fact, the Easter bunny is just a symbol of reproduction left over from pagan seasonal celebrations, while werewolves play on the long-standing motif of man's often denied animal urges and instincts. The fact that they have been *used* to sell candy and scare kids occasionally has nothing to do with their original purpose, which was never based on a "reality" in the first place.

But more importantly, you are trying to show the naivety of people who believe in any/all of the items on your list and, in doing so, show even more naivety yourself. And do you know why? Because you have your own beliefs, and you have put them on display quite well here in the comments section.

And all belief, like it or not, is naive.

*edit: Did any of this really sound angry? Or did you just get embarrassed by being compared to people who are naive enough to believe in folk tales? Should I have inserted something like this after each sentence :) ? I don't know if there's a symbol that equates to "laughing and rolling ones eyes", though it would probably come closer to how I read your post. Anyway no hard feelings.

As far as basing your beliefs on "probability", I call bullsh1t. If something is "probable", that means it hasn't been proven - thus, why believe in it? The only thing belief accomplishes is to give people a reason to not question, investigate and consider other possiblities. Which is why you completely miss the importance of myth, btw.

Oh, and we share no beliefs, simply because of the fact that you feel the need to have them, and I don't :)))))

p.s. - Please keep erasing your replies to me and then doing them over again. It clears up all the bad grammar and replaces it with new bad grammar. Plus I like when people find that they can't defend their position anymore so they just give up and try to respond with weak personal attacks towards someone that don't even know. It's a little sadistic of me to laugh at people like you, I know. But we all have our crazy little habits :) Keep the re-do's coming and by all means read my cutter posts, they are absolutely amazing. Feel free to message me all the big words you don't understand and I'll be happy to dumb it down, just for you :)

I know your type. Your nothing but a glass window, see through. If I was a nastier person I would keep this going, but I know who you are and that is enough for me. You will hurt yourself and burn all your bridges with those around you, or with those that are left in your life.

Your arrogance is ugly, and does nothing but drive people away, your mood swings too will merely self generate themselves by the situations they create. I can't imagine the girls being keen on such a bitter and sour person. You may like to try and get under peoples skins, with no real purpose other than for your own poor ego, MR EMPEROR OF CALI. hahahaha, that says it all doesn't it, complex problem hey? Maybe that's why you cut yourself. oops I thought I was going to be nice, well... couldn't help myself..

Although I will leave you with this.... fix yourself up, it's one thing to ask questions, and state an opionion on things, arrogance and just trying to stir people up isn't cool. Your not that dumb, so why not put it to good use instead of nit picking fights. I hope you don't have this same mentality in real life, cause I can't imagine many sane people wanting to be around that, with the bitterness and everything. Anyways good luck with your personal development and maybe one day you can take off all that black stuff around your heart.

I believe in St. Nick but not Santa... The concept of Santa came from an actual person.
St. Nick was a rich man that helped a poor family anonymously and the story grew from there.
I believe in the message that the story "The boy who cried wolf" teaches. It basically teaches kids not to tell lies. As for the rest I really can't say that I believe in any of it if someday one of them is proven to be real then I will have to accept it but right now that just isn't so. I believe that also. I think stories of good people get changed over time. A good person that does things that other people find extraordinarily generous get changed into that person having super human abilities. I also believe that the "virgin" Mary was just a girl that got pregnant and her husband was willing to go with the "son of the Lord" thing because he didn't want her stoned to death.

I tend to think that jesus/mosses ect.... was much the same as St. Nick, just an average person who did things differently. But now he rides the sky with reindeer ect.... much the same how jesus and mosses became supernatural through story not through truth.

Yes... but they why of each one is different... besides if they did not exist in some form even if it was fictional then you could not of asked me if I believed in them because otherwise they would not of existed in any form for you to know to ask.
    ---
They do in different forms, but when the reality is revealed of what the legend is based on, it's not so much fantasy as people make it out to be.

the definition of god is very subjective, im a pantheist so in a way I do believe in god...but my god is not some bearded egotistical man in the sky demanding to be worshipped....

True, god can be life itself our any other interpretation we put to it but for these purposes a religious god depicted in most bibles as the invisible man in the sky that has rules of what he does and does not want us to do is the meaning of this question.

elves, and god. I believe in them because they are spiritual figures. I do not believe in satan, only in negative spirits. I do not think I am going to see an elf or god walking around like an animal or person, I think of them as living in a spiritual realm. You'd think I'd believe in unicorns but I don't because there is no elemental or deity attribute that they have. I think of them as a symbol of something real but not as something real--in other words, they are not a personified figure for me. If I believed in unicorns, I'd have to believe in every single animal in the animal kingdom mixed with other animals giving infinite possibilities. perhaps once a unicorn-like animal existed on earth which is now extinct, who knows.

i believe that unicorns COULD have existed. evolution? birth defects? maybe they didn't have magical powers, BUT people who saw them prolly thought that the act of seeing them was magical or good luck cuz they were rare. If dinosaurs existed and if little people exist and conjoined twins exist ... then unicorns are definately not impossible.

i also beleive in god, but i don't think it belongs on this list...
you really don't think that there are such a thing as satan worshipers? google it.

There will be and there is Satan worshipers but on what scale? How many are currently in a jihad of sorts?

Why does it not belong on the list? They are all stories with purpose, they all have been embelished or changed to suit the needs or wants of the story teller. St Nick is a prime example of the magical abilities we give stories. A story of god, past down so many generations is exempt from this rule somehow?

No, the boy who cried wolf is a parable to teach the effects of lying in a manner even children can understand. Did you think that was a real little boy in the parable?

Hahaha hell no, the majority of these characters and stories are just that fables and creations for that very purpose. Vampires and Werewolfs to keep your kids from running off at night. Santa and Elves so we buy heaps of stuff at christmas and originally to enforce christianity even more. Tooth Fairy to ease the pain and settle a kid that losses a tooth. Easter Bunny to sell chocalate or eggs and enforce christianity again.Little Red Riding Hood for walking through the forest alone. God and the Devil as a fable much the same reason as the others for control and money. The only one I can't really put any form of interpretation to is the unicorn other than just creativity.

As far as I know the devil doesn't have fanatical supporters that kill in his name or judge others that think differently. But yeah I might add him as the story of the devil is just as riduculous.

No not really, just pretty much asking why some people can believe in one story but not another. If you look at most of the list, the characters were created for a goal or a purpose. The logic to beieve in god is much the same logic as those that believe in other stories.

UFO"s have some evidence to back it though, it's not just a empty story all of the others are pretty much just fictitious.
