My Mother chose to end her life peacefully. It was her choice and I would support it again!

If they so choose, absolutely. Also if their quality of life becomes unbearable.

As in Dutch law: yes.
That means a procedure of three months of medical evaluation and the suffering of measurable, physical unbearable pain with death as only possible outcome.

I'd want it for myself!! You better believe it! What is the positive side of knowing you are going to die whether it will be painful or not however, Disabilitating like Lou Gehrig's Disease! terminal Cancer etc. It is more painful for the family to watch you waste away and the expense to the family is not fair either! I know I have had to deal with several! The doctors use Morphine which leaves the patient in hallucinations and babbling where communication is lost! Doctors know how to extend as long as possible because of "Ka Ching Ka Ching!" If they deny it they are full of bull! I have heard the Hippocratic Oath Stuff and you know, It stinks to high terrestrial bodies! It should be the decision of the individual and if the individual is incompacitated, then the family should have the right to go with it! Dignity! Dignity! Dignity!

Yes. If they are terminal and definately going to die, why not let them die peacefully and end their suffering.

Yes absolutely if a person chooses to. I think everyone should have the right to die with dignity, if their life-situation has become unbearable. I think it's horrible that we prolong suffering, just because we know how to.

Yes. I'd have a living will if I could afford it. But everyone knows what I want. Not that they'd do it. But I would for someone I cared deeply about. I despise needless suffering.

Of course. Who wants to live out their days in suffering and pain when they want a peaceful death?

I definitely think it should be an option. I was with my mother when she died from lung cancer and if my brother and I could have done something to have saved her from suffering the way she did at the end, I believe we would have helped her in any way we could. It's the indignity of being helpless which I think is almost more fearful than pain itself.

If it's what they want, then yes, people should have the right to choose, I think before it's done there should be some sort of mandatory counseling to make sure it's truly what they want and not depression talking, but otherwise yes.

When my dad was so sick, My sister and I were on alert as we thought he might do something to himself, I even had a fight with my other sister who said he should have that right if he wanted. I just couldn't agree . I guess when you love someone you of course dont want to lose them but I also dont want to be put in that position. After he passed and I had a few yrs. to look back on it, I have changed my views completely. I think if they are fully coherent and in pain etc, they should be in charge of their end and be able to choose peace.

If the individual wants to end it then by all means get Kevorkian on the line.

This is a great question.
If anyone has ever witnessed a loved one experience the incredible agonizing pain as a result of accident, cancer or any other disease that literally eats away at their insides until their inevitable death..... cannot understand why anyone should endure such horror.
Our pets have had an easier death with less pain.
What's sad is things are changing...but in the wrong direction, the vets now seem to be prolonging our pets disease/illness and their death process as we have traditionally done with humans.

The debate and opposition I've heard is people stating euthanasia is people "playing GOD". Yes, we are playing GOD, in that part of GOD expressed in relieving the suffering of another out of their agony and into eternal peace. I have to say if that's playing GOD, then so be it. If they want to use powerful words than I say they are playing DEVIL. Prolonging agony and great pain....for what reason?

Sometimes the answers for such spiritual questions are common sense answers. The person who came up with the simple slogan... What would GOD do? ...puts such questions in better perspective.

One wonders if the opposition to euthanasia is really a question of public morals that keeps this matter at bay, or if the AMA (medical industry) Lobby has made some investments in their cash cow piggy bank.

Yes I think everyone who is terminally ill deserves that right. I got Dr. Jack's phone number if you need it.

Yes. If someone is in pain and definitely terminal, they should be allowed to choose when, where and how to die, in the same way that they have made their own decisions on everything else in adulthood. Why prolong suffering and expense for both the sufferer and the family? Would we attach drips to a dog basket and watch the animal lie there almost lifelessly for months? No, I don't think so.
