Do you believe in unintellegent design?

I've misplaced my eyepatch... curses. =)

In all honesty, I believe in a world that is defined by order through chaos that makes sense mathematically. I don't think it was so much "designed" as it just... happened that way?

Mmm... I'm in the mood for pasta.

I believe in a lot of stuff.

Cows cannot design.

No - intelligent design.

However, the intelligence comes not from a higher power, but is an emergent quality.

Look at ants - they are surprisingly stupid, having no thinking brain, simply working to set patterns in their heads, and responding in predictable ways to scents around them.

As individuals, they are as dumb as planks.

But as a colony, they do enormously intelligent thins - they build nests with climate control, they build rafts to transport their queen in rainy seasons, they organise defences when their home is attacked, they find food, and efficiently feed the entire colony - and yet are still as dumb as planks.

That is emergence - intelligence that comes from lots of little dumbness.

The FSM is only slightly more plausible than any other invented god. Meatballs are many things, but I would not count 'intelligent' amongst them.

So it is that an unintelligent process can lead to intelligent design.

I'm not kidding, either. Watch any nature program on ants - what they do as individuals is totally, irretrievably dumb. What they do as colonies is amazing.

Unintelligent Design is exactly where this country is headed... Pay attention for the eventual demise... It will not be hard to miss...

I believe in unintelligent design, yes I do...

I am a programmer, I believe in the unit test. Possibly the most unintelligent, tedious and time consuming practice ever invented... but it works. It works so well, it will never change.
