Maybe they just ran out of room on that stone, and we have not found where they continued the next portion of history. Or maybe they were all wiped out, either by natural causes or Europeans, or some other tribe, before they could continue the calender. To answer your question point blank...No I do not believe the Mayan calender as far as the world ending in 2012.
