What they are not telling us is that the number of people that have exausted thier benifits are no longer being counted. That, only helps the numbers look better!

No I don't believe them, they are the result of some creative counting contrived to make 0bama look like he has actually done something.

Don't forget that he recently announced that he was laying off 200,000 soldiers but doesn't mention that when he brags about new jobs.

haha, they lied when they said it was 10-11 percent a few months ago, they're still lying. That's all they do is lie. But they want the economy to recover so obama looks good when he's re-elected. That's why gasoline is down, but 4 months after the elections.....

BTW did you know the us secret military is at war with japan? almost a year ago, they created a man made earthquake and tsunami, and then when the sabotaged nuclear reactors began overheating, they literally detonated a small scale nuclear bomb in fukushima reactor number 3 that they had snuck in a few months prior the tsunami. I've studied many hours learning this, got evidence of haarp's power output, the ionospheric bubbles it made over japan for 1.5 weeks before the 11th quake, pictures of the bomb disguised as a special nuclear fuel rods monitoring camera, pictures of the obliterated concrete and steel, literally 8-10 foot concrete walls vanished, and a picture taken from a ways off seconds after the detonation, that show a mini mushroom cloud on top of the freshly exploded radioactive fuel rods both in the reactor and in the cooling pond storage, all of which got vaporized and laced the airstreams that doused north america in radiation, and the rest of the world as well. I personally got sick from this, and wish other people would recognize that when the tv lies and says the radiation from the disaster is nothign to worry about, they really mean we've just bombed japan with radioactive fallout that is much worse than chernobyl ever was, but we're not going to tell anybody that, shut up and eat your poisoned dinner and watch your lie box and go to sleep and get up the next day and work for our corporate enslavement jobs that give us money from your labors.

What would be the point in doing that? Even if it was possible, what would be the point, there other places that are a far greater threat to the US economy or way of life. That makes no sense at all!

Yeah, that's a good story but it doesn't really make sense.

I like how everyone was perfectly willing to believe the unemployment rate was going up a few months ago, but no one wants to believe that it's going down now. Just shows you how the basic human tendency is to see the negatives more sharply than the positives.

With that said, although the "real" unemployment rate is much higher (as Mdear indicated, something like 15% - and at the height of the recession, it was likely ten points or so higher), AND although part of the decrease in the unemployment rate can be accounted for by those who have left the labor force by being so discouraged as to give up on looking for work, the fact remains that jobs are being created.

Are the jobs being created very good? In most cases, no. Are there lots of them? No. Is the rate of growth very high? Not remotely. Many of the jobs are blue collar, and the number being created is too small for everyone who wants one to get one. That said, the anemic rate of growth is still enough, by itself, to bring down the full unemployment rate, even if not by much.

The more important question is not really whether the unemployment rate is going down (since this by itself is a rather poor indicator of economic health), but whether the quality of life is rising with it or whether it is stagnating or - worse - declining.

Actually if you factor in those whose benefits have run out,or have given up looking, the number is about 22%.And the majority of the jobs created the last 3 years have been government jobs, whil private sector jobs, whose taxes pay for the govt. jobs, have been declining. How long can that last?

so the official number went from 11percent, to now 8. I personally don't believe this anemic job growth could have reduced the unemployment by 3 percent. I believe the unemployment rate could be 13-15-higher percent.

since you are willing to accept the numbers they reported in the past, you should be willing to accept the numbers they are using currently, unless one is stupid enough to believe that the numbers you quote were not manipulated to make your point.

your numbers fit your point, current numbers fit another point. which is truth and which is lie?

the numbers are from the same source??

THEN, the are likely both true... get over it.

I am having a hard time believing that those figures aren't skewed, there is still hundreds competing for.the same job. There may be more jobs but unemployment is a figure that isn't just a rate of via the available to what ever sample they measured against. People are still losing jobs daily.

I think all the figures are skewed, I've studied statistics in a college class, it's pretty easy to lie with statistics, manipulalate the numbers, very many ways.

Yeah, I agree with you. In the current report "unemployed" means people that are "Actively looking for work". This number leaves out "marginally attached"/ "discouraged" workers; those that give up looking for work, part-time workers, and the underemployed are not counted in the unemployment rate.

The broader definition of "unemployed", which includes the categories that I've listed, has only fallen by 0.4% according to the bureau of labor. I believe that number is around 15% right now.
