I think with any temptation comes the choice of whether to stop or go. Most people who like the sex,drugs,alcohol keep going until they don't want it anymore. They just get tired of it.. no fun, no fulfillment ..whatever..it has lost whatever it used to do for them..Then they are done. Until that point they are gonna keep doing it. Why? Because they like it. IMHO

Possibly, regardless, I still hate sex, to me, it ruins so much. Or should I say I dislike sexually irresponsible people. I'm asexual, so I'm not interested in it.

But I'm thinking that a lot of people who claim to be "addicted" are actually more about the attention they get from others- or they think that being addicted to sex makes them attractive and alluring.

I'd have to say yes: you can get addicted to pretty much anything that feels good and helps you escape from your problems. I'd have to say sex qualifies. (That said, I'm sure it's also used as an excuse pretty often. :)

I think there is, I have an astronomical s3x drive. But no problems controlling it. If I were not married I would be very promiscuous, but unabashedly so.

I don't think it's either. I think it's just compulsive behaviour and in the case of the s3x addict it focuses on s3x, the compulsion could just as easily be focused on something else. That's my opinion and i've been treated for so called s3x addiction!!!
