Definitely! I draw the line at some things - namely No-name Coffee!! But most no-name stuff is just versions of other brands that are not labelled by the parent company. Saves money and gives good value.

Another money saving hint! Look for items on the bottom shelf - xcheapest products are almost always on the bottom shelf!

Did you all know that NO NAME brands are just an overabundance of the regular brands in most cases?

The factories make their quotas and then they package the over abundance in different packaging. This is true for most items. Some items, like Kraft Mac & Cheese, is an exception and I'm not sure at all where the NO NAME brands come from.

I do buy NO NAME brands most of the time - when I know where it was manufactured. If I don't know (because it's not a brand name disguised), I usually stick to regular brands when I have to.

Sorry to pick at things Cheleanne but what you say is incorrect. I work in the food and packaging industry. Some packaging facilities do indeed package no name products but they are not exactly the same recipes other than generic medicine. Trade recipes are trade marked and can't be copied. If you could any chemist could figure out what's in Coke or Heinz ketchup and package it under a different name. Production runs are also continuous operations so switching mid run to no name packaging would not be possible. You can't shut down a conveyor oven to change packaging. There would be nowhere for the product to go but on the floor.

It probably would depend on what the item was, but Yes I have purchased items that are in plain wrapped packages... I just check the ingredients to see if they are the same, like with headache meds....

Generic? You'd better believe it. I call'em Bubba groceries. Bubba's grape jelly or Bubba's chips, or even Bob's barbeque sauce. There are somethings that I will not substitute like dairy products and medicines.

yeah, i'm not too picky about stuff. if i've tried a no-name brand and didn't like it, i'll go back to the original...most are pretty much the same. won't compromise the bread tho. i hate cheap bread...falls apart too easy and is never very soft. oh and A1 sauce. other than that...everything else is just whatever.

Yes-staples like milk, eggs and margarine. Toilet paper-its just to wipe your arse right?-the brand names are so expensive. Sometimes lollies are a no no though and toothpaste and canned soup-find brand names better in those products. Buy no name cleaning products-bleach and disinfectants, washing detergent. I try to save where I can-but will spend more on particular items cause the no name ones are iffy.
