Do you do things for self recognition, or because you truly care about the one you are doing things for?
Be honest now...seems some people do things to feel better about themselves versus genuinely out of concern for others. The latter feels so much better knowing you are doing things because you truly care.

Both. I volunteer at the foodbank and soup kitchen, For me It's a self esteem selfworth builder, and rewarding in a sense to know that I am helping others by being friendly, compassionate, going that extra step to show I care, etc. Because I have experienced both sides of life. Being on a fixed income I know what it feels like to have to come to these places, so I can relate. (Then I also see some volunteers that I feel need to go and experience the other side of life, to learn some compassion)

The things I do for people I care about I do because I care about them and want the best for them. Volunteering, punctuality, reliability, responsibility, all that stuff I do because I know the other person deserves it and it's part of the person I want to be because I believe in that stuff.
