I have a cat and he doesn't act funny so I would think there should not be anyone there. It's the most horrible feeling. Why does this happen?

I have awoken freaked out and crying, but never in my own house. It was a surreal experience. Now that the dogs sleep with me..if I'm unsure about the house..I just take the aggressive one with me.

not because i think someone is in the house. when i wake up scared it's because i've let my guard down and where/what i am doing in life comes crashing into me.

That could be it too. I just get an overwhelming feeling of terror.
