Do you ever wonder about some people on ep misrepresenting their age, or even gender?

I am actually a hot 20-year-old playboy bunny masquerading as a middle-aged woman. I just get so tired of being hit on!

NO! That's their business!

As long as it is not used in a harmful way!!

I figure some people do, and it doesn't bother me. I have wondered if most people come on EP to really be themselves in the safety of an anonymous environment (which is what I'm doing) or to really be someone else that they can't be in real life.

Depending on the nature of the conversation, it doesn't matter much to me what gender they are. I'd like to think that they are being honest, but their experiences are what they are, and have value either way.

As they say, "On the Internet, nobody knows you are a dog" ( from a famous NewYorker Cartoon - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Internet_dog.jpg ).

The folks I've met on the internet who turned out to be substantially different in person than online turned out to be male-to-female transgendered people who chose to represent themselves online as the gender they felt they were - rather than the gender they physically were.

Even in person these people had very female personalities.. to the point where I almost felt they were being more honest with the online persona than the real-life persona.

Only when someone is blatantly obvious about it, then I find it funny as hell.

I hate to say, but I would really probably be more concerned if I were pursuing some sort of dating or sexual relationship.

Otherwise... meh.

That said, I do wonder why people like to yank chains or hide behind masks on an anonymous site... but to each his or her own, I guess.

I don't care. I associate with their souls.

Ha Ha, no not really. My username is Picky Nancy, but I am a man. I am not trying to be deceitful, but I often think that because of the name that people may think that I am a woman and not a man.

There's no "misrepresenting" about it. They are liars and I have no tolerance for any of it.

I don't really care, unless some old lady starts flirting with me under the guise of a hot guy around my age, lol. I don't completely trust these things, but usually I don't see any reason for the person to lie, and even if they are, as long as it's not hurting anyone, then whatever....

I'm sure some do, for whatever reasons they have. I don't though. Why would I pretend to be 46? And I AM a man!

Maybe there are people who do although I think that anyone lying about their personal details in an anonymous website is not fooling anyone but themselves.

Worried? no. I do know that people do it all the time. I don't understand not putting up your correct gender...but there are enticements for lying about age given EP's rules. As long as the purpose isn't harmful, I don't have a problem with it.

Within reason. If someone says they over 18 and they are really under 18 talking to someone that is over 18 then it creates an illegal situation that person B is unaware of.

Other than that. I say have fun. ^_^

i don't understand why some people do this. there was a guy who had his age at 70+, yet got mad at people when they took him at his word. go figure.

I'm sure it happens, but I guess I don't really care if they do or not. Now that you've brought it up... okay, it does sound kind of creepy and deceitful. I guess if you are really unhappy with who you are maybe it's a 'thrill' to present yourself as somebody totally different.
