Yes and yes. I thought the electric stove looked really cool when it got all glowing orange, when I was 3, so I touched it. My brain was retrained shortly thereafter.

I'd think with the way mine always has so many things running at once it wouldn't need to exercise and should be tired. Yet there I lay every night asking it to please shut up and go to sleep. :)

Crossword puzzles every day, reading things that make me think and recall. I use them for exercise.
As for retraing. I guess you could, but that question will now make mine do a lot more exercise.

those crossword puzzles are great exercises, my dad is amazing at completing them...he says the more you do them the easier it becomes. True with anything in life really, repetition is how we learn. As far as the sleeping, I know its hard when your thinking of all those things going on in life, but if you exercise your BODY it really helps you crash quickly.

If you want to, you can put your mind to anything. For example, I did very badly at school, especially in maths. So when my daughter was growing up, I taught myself maths from books, and I did quite well, (quadratic equations etc).
I'm not sure what you mean by re-training your brain. But certainly, I know it's possible to cultivate what you've already got.

That's fantastic...what I mean by re-training your brain is if you are thinking in a way you don't like, have a bad habit effecting your life, you can take steps to undo that unwanted train of thought.

Ah yes, now I get what you mean. Yes you can undo unwanted trains of thought. When I'm thinking bad things, I make myself daydream of being a top class ballerina, waiting in the wings to do dance Odette/Odille in Swan Lake. It works every time!

I do try to "exercise" it, as you say, but would be happy to hear more about what you mean by "retraining" — mine has some bad habits it would be good to get rid of, and I'm getting to an age where I can't afford to waste time on bad habits...

Well you are in charge of your brain, so if you are thinking one way, you can do specific exercises to alter your bad habits. For instance, lets say you think negatively about everything. To combat that issue you would add positive things to your everyday, like books for starters. Reading positive words and phrases over and over will have a profound effect. Watch the news everyday and you certainly will feel negative. FEED your brain what you desire and it will become exactly what you want. Tell me a bad habit you want to change?

Wasting time. Being unfocused, so I don't get things done, jumping from task to task, and whiling away my time on things like EP.
