Yes some modern movies are just rehashed versions of last summers hits. Thats why I am starting to veer towards the classics

Yes, but some are worth watching anyway. There are also still a few that surprise me.

Yes! That's why I like watching a lot of indie and foreign films, they are so good (most of them) and don't have that crappy, cookie cutter, Hollywood feel.

Oh **** yeah. Movies like Pulp Fiction, A Clockwork Orange, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, Full Metal Jacket and The Big Lebowski (the greats) are unpredictable and incredible to the end. Kubrick was a genius. Tarantino is a genius. The Coen brothers are geniuses.

I have watched way to many movies in my life time, it is difficult to surprise me in a movie. 'Inglorious Bastards' had some cool twist that were difficult to see coming, that was fun.

Yea, it's kind of like re-inventing the wheel. And the vast majority of people like to watch movies that they don't have to think much about.

Many writers find it hard to write endings to their scripts these days, and the beginnings and middles are a struggle also.

The old saying "there's nothing new under the sun" certainly applies in this age.

I like the adage, "life is stranger than fiction." but its also scarier.
What I hate are the remakes that aren't remakes, like passenger and sixth sense.
The other bad thing about predictability, is its a result of marketing demographics, the public like one slasher movie, then all the following slasher movies are made in the same template.
Creativity drain in hollywood. meh.

Its been said that all the plot devices ever conceived were used in "One Thousand and One Nights", or more popularly called "The Arabian Nights".

The older you get, the more predictable you will find they are. As Roarke said, there is nothing new under the sun.

Yeah, **** is like that.

But then again, I watch it knowing what the ending is going to be so the expectations are not that high when it comes to the plot and everything that happens before the ending.... ;-)

99% of them. I find myself even saying the dialog before the actors can.
